Tiggen is a San Antonio-based abstract expressionist whose work explores the intersection of faith, surrender, and creative intuition.
Drawing on a lifelong career in the arts - including illustration and design, teaching fine art at a private arts center on the East Coast, and creating paintings, sculpture, and large-scale mosaics held in private and public collections - his latest work marks a bold new chapter.
Influenced by artists such as Jackson Pollock, Wassily Kandinsky, Clyfford Still, and Alexander Calder, Tiggen approaches each canvas, sheet of paper, wire, and weight as a collaboration with God. Through the spontaneous movement of poured and drizzled paint or ink, he relinquishes control, allowing the unfolding composition to become a celebration of grace, mystery, and creation itself.
Working from his San Antonio studio, Tiggen is developing this evolving series for collectors who are drawn to expressive contemporary art with both visual energy and spiritual depth.
Artist Statement
“I begin each painting by releasing the paint from above the canvas or paper. From that moment, I believe God guides its path; together allowing a composition to emerge that transcends what I could ever create alone.
This body of work is a celebration of that grace — a return to the studio after several years away following the loss of my vision. Through this process, I have discovered that limitation can become a doorway to transformation, and that beauty can emerge from places I once thought impossible.”
